Prairie Community Services Employee Benefits

Prairie Community Services offers many benefits in addition to a paycheck.

What do we offer?

Freedom to Transfer

Because we provide services throughout the western corridor of Minnesota, employees of PCS have an excellent opportunity to transfer to a facility in another part of the state, should the need or desire to move arise. We have locations as far north as Warroad on Lake of the Woods and as far south as Fairfax, Redwood Falls and Marshall.

Vacation and Personal Time

After working only three months full-time or 400 hours part-time, you will be eligible for vacation time.  By the time you have worked one year at full-time status, you could accrue as many as 135 hours of paid time off.

Health Insurance Reimbursement

This is available to employees who are scheduled to work at least 70 hours a two week pay period. This is your individual insurance, so it will go with you if or when you change jobs.

Life Insurance

PCS provides $20,000 ($10,000 for Union Employees) life insurance for all our employees who are working 70 hours a pay period. This is at no cost to you.

Medical Savings Account

This voluntary benefit is offered to employees. It is after tax and you can designate the amount you wish to put into the account with a min. of $25 a paycheck. It is an interest bearing account earning interest at money market rates which is higher than bank savings accounts. This money can be used for any purpose, not just medical.

Pension Plan

You are eligible for our plan after one year of employment and you have worked at least 1000 hours (approximately half time) and have reached the age of 21. PCS puts a value equal to 5% of your gross wages into this plan for your retirement. There is no cost to you.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Also called cafeteria accounts. These accounts can save you money in taxes by allowing you to pay for eligible medical and child care expenses with pretax dollars. This is a great way to increase your take home pay. You are eligible to enroll the first of the month following your first 60 days of employment and annually thereafter, if you work at least 56 hours per pay period.

Tax-Deferred Annuities

Want to Save? Great idea at a good return. You can have money put into an annuity and no federal or state taxes will be computed against that amount. You can even borrow against these funds at a low interest rate after you have built up a minimum amount. For these loans, you are really paying interest back to yourself.

Other Voluntary Benefits

We partner with other companies to offer pretax and post-tax insurance plans that you can have deducted from your paycheck:
